Program Development
Mentors are integral parts of program development as
their insights and ideas have shaped much of the program,
ranging from student participation in summer programs
to international community service projects. Mentors
participate in The Mentor Forum, a professional development
night held each March. A planning committee of mentors,
directors and advisory board members solicit topics
to be discussed during the night from the mentors themselves.
Mentors then have a chance to learn from one another,
to help each other resolve any recurring issues, motivate
students, challenge themselves and study such topics
as multiculturalism. They also contribute to shaping
the program through yearly evaluations, conducted during
the last month of school at all participating schools.
Through evaluations and the Forum mentors have added
The Student Handbook, the All Students Day, community
service sites, tips and strategies, launching the web
site and much else.
Application Process

Faculty and staff members of participating schools are
invited to apply for mentor positions at the beginning
of the school year. They need to supply a letter of
interest and be interviewed by the program director.
The program director pairs each mentor with a suitable
match from the student group for a prospective relationship
from November of the student's sophomore year until
graduation.
